At the start of July, we all came to London to the TCE offices to meet everyone involved in the internship as well as the other interns from around the UK. There are 8 of us in total and it was really nice to feel like there was an intern community. We were introduced to the programme leads and mentors, before hearing from all the different sector leads about the work that TCE does towards achieving Net Zero emissions and nature restoration. We also completed the academic to business writing training in preparation for our internship projects.

It was interesting to learn about the breadth of work that TCE carries out and make connections with TCE staff who may help us with our projects.

The next week, we all travelled to Scarborough for the ReMeMaRe (Restoring Meadow, Marsh and Reef) conference where we learnt so much about marine restoration and made lots of useful connections to speak to about our projects. It was also lovely to get to know each other further and spend time talking about all of our different projects.

Back in our internship regions, we have been familiarising ourselves with our joint and individual projects and speaking to all the internship partners who have been so supportive. We are all very excited to see what the next 6 months bring!
