Coastal Processes

Survey theme: Coastal Processes

Coastal processes usually occur nearshore and are important in landscape change and maintaining natural balance

Coastal Processes shape our coasts and seabed. The three main processes are erosion, transportation and deposition. These processes can alter beaches, sand banks and channels.

Offshore developers and project operators study coastal processes to assess how they may impact a project, but also to ensure that any project has minimum impact to coastal processes during construction and operation.

Coastal process surveys are often more relevant to projects that exist near to the shore or in shallow water.
