Working alongside our customers and stakeholders, we create, invest in, and deliver critical data and evidence programmes.
Tidal stream should play an important part in our national energy security mix and therefore in our Energy Portfolio. It is predictable and the technology is now ready to scale up from Test & Demonstration to small arrays (less than 30MW) and looking forward towards commercialisation.
Whilst technology readiness has previously been a blocker for the expansion of this sector, we are now faced with a lack of evidence to identify and understand the potential environmental challenges.
This evidence project hopes to:
Review data on the MDE that can be related to answer some of the key questions around evidence for Tidal Stream Energy
Investigate data transferability & continued data collection
Work with stakeholders across sectors to help de-risk consenting for tidal projects
